Re-imagine learning and development

As we worked through the Beyond Performance re-branding last year, the team and I talked a lot about how the learning and development (L&D) world needs to change and how we could support that change.  This recent article from Lynda Donovan and published in the ILT on-line magazine mirrors our thinking.

- Design Learning eco-systems: something we are doing through the use of Design Thinking and Agile methodologies.  Start by understanding your learners and how you can create a pull rather than push environment.

- Align learning with performance: for some time our approach has been more about the effect the learning has rather than the definitive return.  Our re-branding from Beyond Learning to Beyond Performance wasn't by accident!

- Broadcast success: learning needs to be continuous and activated.  Communicating the purpose, the way to get involved and support it, and the successes experienced is core to how we operate.

- Align strategies and technologies: being aware of the tolerance and maturity of your organisation as it considers the step into the digital world is crucial.  Whilst I'm probably preaching to the converted, we're surprised at how many organisations are embracing and holding at bay, the move to digital in equal measures,

- Overcome the barriers and reap the benefits: too many HR and L&D practitioners are still not equipped with the capability to influence and engage those that hold the purse strings; we're here to help!
