Passion & Performance: A case study

Written by Perform | 07/10/2015

Passion & Performance, the learning and development centre for a group of automotive brands who distribute vehicles under license, decided to outsource their learning interventions in May 2014. Beyond Performance was brought in to develop an end-to-end programme for internal support staff across the group, including employees of Hyundai, Renault and Isuzu distribution teams; New World Motors, distributor of ZIC Oil; their IT business, IB4T; their mechanical team and their logistics arm, The Distribution Centre.

“Beyond Performance successfully developed and delivered a robust suite of courses that were tightly aligned to our business goal of building greater collaboration throughout the organisation,” said general manager of Passion and Performance, Dave Litherland.

Before Beyond Performance came on board, Dave describes their learning and development programme as ‘more of a stab in the dark’. So Clare Parkes, Beyond Performance CEO carried out a thorough needs analysis and aligned the resulting programme closely to the business’ goals and structure.

According to Dave, Beyond Performance has brought a number of key strengths into play: their ability to tailor training to client needs; build strong relationships across a range of stakeholders; and problem solve with humour and tenacity.

“The team have gained an amazing amount of momentum behind our learning and development programme. There’s a high level of engagement and we’re getting great scores back from our internal survey, especially around the training and development opportunities which are scoring in the mid 80 to 90th percentile.

“A lot of our success is down to Beyond Performance’s understanding of our business context,” said Dave. “They understand our fleet and the new cars entering the market because they actively seek out opportunities to learn anything that will add to their knowledge. The team works really hard to deliver an efficient, totally outsourced model.”

Beyond Performance is now considered part of the team. According to Dave, “They’ve worked hard to get our managers’ buy-in and have done an amazing job. I am confident that our relationship with Beyond Performance will only get stronger as time goes on.”
